By Hilmar von Campe The other day I saw a debate on Fox News between a Republican and a Democrat. The theme was Harriet Miers and whether she would get the necessary votes from the Senate. Asked about his thoughts regarding her qualifications the liberal Democratic strategist (I think his name was Bob Beckel) answered that if the hearings would show her as somebody who respects the civil liberties and the right to privacy of the American people then she would not have a problem but a good chance to get the necessary votes. Sounds beautiful and noble and everybody will be naturally inclined to agree with that statement. But it is really nothing but a democratic cover for what he really means: namely same-sex marriages and abortion. The president on the other hand, when asked whether he had talked with her about abortion answered that he never had discussed the matter with her. I would be very surprised if he wouldn’t know precisely what her position is. Abortion is the central issue for the selection of a Supreme Court judge but nobody says so. The issue reflects the division of the American people on the matter. Whatever questions in the many hours of grilling the candidates come up they are only side issues and meant mainly to clarify for the Democrats whether there are other reasons than abortion that can be used in case their ideology and financial sponsors demand to reject the candidate. The president and the Republicans on the other hand try to let the issue be marginal in order not to provoke a bloody confirmation battle. As usual, they are likely to compromise on principle. It is the Socialist agenda which dominates the scene. The substance of what is being discussed is not of juridical but of ideological nature. With other words, most of the involved do not say what they really think and why, but rather what they believe will bring them to the desired result. The relationship with truth of Harriet Miers was not addressed. These are symptoms of a totalitarian society like the one I have experienced under the Nazis, who were also Socialists. Abortion, however, is also not the principal issue here - it is God and His role in American and world society. We are watching not just a debate with false arguments about the eligibility of a person for the Supreme Court, but a battle about the direction of American society, the outcome of which has also a decisive impact on the credibility of the United States towards all other nations. Socialism is not a philosophy of or for the poor but the ideology of the power-hungry and immoral ideologists who use the poor for their own power purposes. Immorality weakens and destroys any society and has already subverted a great part of America’s. Some godless decisions of the Supreme Court carry great responsibility for this development. Sexualized and abortion-infested American society is not an inspiration for other nations to follow. And it is not by accident that the Islamic nations and the Catholic Church are the major forces trying to prevent the equally godless United Nations to morally subvert all nations – financed to a great extent by American tax payers. If America is a nation governed by the people for the people, the majority of whom say they believe in God, why then is it that the same people with one hand try to bring freedom and democracy to other nations by paying a high price with the blood of our sons and with the other hand destroy the foundation for our freedom? Do we believe or not believe that our rights are given to us by our Creator, as the Declaration of Independence states, and do nothing to implement the consequences of such belief? Or are we a nation of hypocrites who preach something to others we ourselves do not, throwing God - the source of our freedom - out of the political process, of education and practically out of society just like the Nazis did? Lasting freedom without God, i.e.truth, is not possible. Liars and lies are the enemies of freedom. I wish Christians would show their teeth and fight the right battle for their nation instead of being occupied with their personal salvation. I have been in many churches in America and am normally appalled by the lack of fight for the application of God’s moral absolutes in the national life. Socialists want a godless world and push the world in that direction. Christians have neither a concept for God’s rule in the world nor – with great exceptions - do they fight those who want him out. That has to change. America will never win the war on terrorism unless we repent and this atrocity, the terrorism against the unborn human life, is put to an end. I hope Pope Benedikt XVI will make a ruling reality that excludes politicians and judges who are part of this terrorism from communion. That might give the Arab terrorists and their allies in Islamic countries something to think about. The congregation that told Judge Greer who “legally” killed Terri Schiavo to leave their church set the pace for all Christians. Download the printer friendly file for this article.
