Friend or Foe

The German minister of defense, Rudolf Scharping, visited recently his counterpart, Igor Sergejew, and had also conversations with foreign minister Igor Iwanov and Security Counselor Sergei Iwanov. Together they criticized the US intention to deploy an anti-ballistic-missile shield. "The international architecture for the control of armament and disarmament, which is of German interest, must not be endangered," Scharping said. Russia, China and - surprise, surprise - France, had already categorically rejected the American plan. According to them such a shield would start a new armament race.

That of course is a plain lie. China and Russia (with Western financial help) are engaged in a huge military, including nuclear, build-up which is clearly directed against the United States. That fact has been reported in detail by US intelligence services and investigative journalists. What, I wonder, are European intelligence services telling their governments? Is it that Schroeder, Scharping and the rest are not listening?

The Bush administration needs to make it very clear that it is reacting not just against a possible missile attacks from rough states like Iran or North Korea, which are sponsored by and provided with technology from Russia and China, but also against the open threats of China, bent on the destruction of America and free society. It is obvious, to those capable of recognizing the truth, that a U.S. anti-ballistic missile would greatly diminish, if not eliminate, China’s and Russia’s ability to use their nuclear arsenals for the purpose of blackmail.

Scharping’s Moscow theme was repeated again at the Conference for National Security Policy in Munic, Germany, from February 2-4. In attendance were the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld and a number of US senators from both sides of the aisle. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, referring to China and Russia, backed the position of Scharping and so did the leader of the Christian-Democratic parliamentary opposition, Friedrich Merz. Rumsfeld stood fast by stating, that weakness invites aggression and that the United States of America must defend itself.

European government leaders live in a socialist dream world. Their thought processes resemble the Marxist philosophy espoused by Putin and Chiang Zemin and they see nothing wrong in associating with Communist leaders. An American president, Bill Clinton, made the connection of personal moral defeat and the appeasement and taking over positions of immoral ideological enemies quite clear to everybody. Schroeder was quite comfortable spending last Christmas with Putin. Their holiday was made even more amicable by the fact that Putin had learned to speak German. He had learned it while stationed in Dresden, Germany as a KGB agent. He had worked with the STASI, successor to the GESTAPO.

European NATO leaders are not reliable allies. They are ideological foes, opposed to America’s founding principles. Their concept of freedom is different from ours. Freedom, to them, is viewed as a variable set of rights granted by government to the people. In America, freedom is based on God’s moral absolutes. Freedom is endowed to us by our creator. Our government was created by the people merely to protect these rights. As I write, Europeans are restructuring their armed forces to transform NATO from a defense-only alliance into an aggressive UN tool for military intervention throughout the world. They intend to draw the United States into their concepts.

Rudolf Scharping is a left wing radical. He is an adulterer appearing in society with his lover while in the process of getting rid of his wife divorcing her. That seems to be normal procedure among his colleagues. Helmuth Schroeder as well as Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, for instance, have been married four times each. Joschka Fischer is also a former terrorist whose violent past includes the beating of police officers. He is also suspected to have led a unit of street fighters who threw Molotov cocktails at the police. All of this surfaced when he was called as a witness in a trial against another terrorist, Hans J. Klein, accused of murder during the attack on the OPEC conference in Vienna in 1975 where three people were killed.

European governments are in the process of destroying the moral foundations of European Christian civilization by making, in various degrees, immorality like sexual promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, etc. socially and legally acceptable. Their own lying is ok, according to these socialists, but the slightest deviation of the opponent is not. To be on the right is automatically considered to be a crime and is punished with sanctions based on pseudo-legalistic arguments. Left-wingers, on the other hand, are always considered correct. They are closer to Lenin than to the American founders.

These morally depraved men, who, like Bill Clinton, are unable to control their own lusts and ambitions, do not know the difference between right and wrong. Because they are unable see the reality of self and recognize their own immorality they cannot see the reality of Communism. They are unable to discern the evil and unchanged monstrosity which led to the murder of at least 120 million people and the destruction of human substance and values in those nations consumed by Communism. Therefore they think that nice words and signed papers are enough of security for Western nations.

America needs firmly to embrace and stand upon her moral values. It is very heartening to watch President George W. Bush embark on this road. I, of course, agree with Vice President Dick Cheney’s statement on the Fox Sunday Morning News on January 25, "America does not need the permission of anybody to defend herself." Our challenge lies in convincing and change the European leaders. How freedom is perceived should differentiate between friend and foe.
